It is always an exciting time when we are able to share news of our projects and as projects go, they don't come much bigger than this, let us introduce you to The Great British Pollinator Highway
We are on a mission to create a vast network of interconnected pollinator friendly habitats across the UK. These habitats will provide essential corridors for our amazing pollinators to thrive and enable us to reverse the catastrophic losses we have seen over the last fifty years. Although they may differ in size, each of these habitats will be rich in native wildflowers, grasses, trees, hedges and other pollinator friendly components.
What will set The Great British Pollinator Highway apart from other similar projects will be our use of the innovative technology provided by our project partners at AGRISOUND. By using their audio monitoring monitoring system on each of our GBPH sites we will be able to collect the data collected from the acoustic sensors withing the hardware, to not only count but to understand pollinator populations and optimise habitat creation.
This project isn't just about counting bees or saving butterflies, The Great British Pollinator Highway is a movement for a healthier, more sustainable future. Through our engagement with communities, schools, local authorities and other stakeholders this project will provide Social Value opportunities galore for businesses across the UK. Education will play a huge part in the creation, management and roll out of each habitat with opportunties provided for people of all ages to learn, what we are doing, why we are doing it, how we are doing it and who benefits from these actions.
