Social Value in Action

Fri 12th Apr 2024

Wherever we can, we create projects that not only deliver our biodiversity objectives but provide real social value.

These photographs were taken by staff from one of 52 schools we have teamed up with across North Yorkshire. Following a site visit earlier in the year we are creating a series of projects that will be run in this schools, small woodland area. All part of their Forest School programme.
The first project was to provide bird and bat boxes, which you can see have been painted by the children and are now sited.

Other projects scheduled for the site include, the creation of a mini wildflower meadow to attract a variety of pollinators. The planting of shade loving plants to create the perfect habitat to attract Fritillary Butterflies. The building of new bug hotels and the creation of a small wildlife pond.

With help from the parents and teachers, the schoolchildren are going to have a great time learning about the wildlife their efforts will attract.
