Here at Biodiversity UK we are always proud to be involved in projects that are hosted on sites owned by our chosen partners.
We recently purchased a significant stock of Dog Violet plug plant's in readiness for planting on a number of our project sites. These shade loving woodland plants are a favourite food source of the Silver Washed Fritillary Butterfly. A species whose numbers we are working diligently to increase.
We discovered that our good friends at Forest of Flowers were also planning to plant violets in their developing woodland. We are therefore thrilled to be able to support the start of their long-term project and provide them with 1,000 of these beautiful shade-tolerant woodland wildflowers.
This project is vital for the future of Forest of Flowers as they ensure the habitat continues to be diverse and species-rich, even once their 42,000 trees have matured.
Every violet planted will have a lasting legacy, supporting wildlife in the Forest of Flowers for years to come.
Great project being undertaken by great people and Biodiversity UK are delighted to play a part in it.
